Two Saturdays ago we visited

Alnwick Castle

home of the Duke of Northumberland's family

for 700 years

 

the family still lives here in the winter

 

 

 (this is where they filmed Harry Potter learning how to fly his broomstick!)

 

 this is the courtyard in the center of the State Rooms

which were fabulous but we weren't allowed to take pictures

my favorite was the library

absolutely massive with old books all the way up the walls

(like in Beauty and the Beast)

and then a big flat screen and bean bags for when the family is around!

 

hands-down the BEST kids area we've seen

(and the cutest Knight!)
