Well, we made it to Scotland!
someone was excited to be out of the car
see the ocean?!
this was such a neat playground but unfortunately it was raining so we didn't stay long
the next morning we visited:
and learned about the great Scottish poet
who is so beloved that Burns night is celebrated January 25th
with a traditional haggis, neeps and tatties (turnips and potatoes) supper
the Burns family lived in a 4 room cottage
that they shared with their animals
(for some reason the animals were kept in the 2nd room,
why they weren't on the end is beyond me)
Benji found it fascinating
thatched roof and everything!
we learned that Burns was quite a, shall we say, ladies man
Brig O' Doon
a romantic bridge featured in some Burns poetry
after the Burns museum we meandered over to
Culzean Castle
(the "z" is silent so it sounds like "Cul-ian")
but really, the best bit according to the two and a half year old:
watching "movies" in the morning...
and jumping on the trampoline in the garden of
the family run B+B
go figure :-)
