it rained
it was actually the only really rainy day of the trip
it was kind of fun
hey daddy, you should order this: beef stew braised in belgian beer - a belgian specialty
hey mommy - you should get the waterzooi - a ghent fish stew specialty
good choices kiddo!
we've decided kids meals in europe are amazing
some meals made us wish we were
"12 and under"
two happy guys after lunch
well-fed and ready to explore
a castle
good thing we found a castle!
they had quite the weapons and instruments of torture exhibit
we were glad the boys coudn't read
there's a candy unique to Ghent
Ghent "noses"
so called because they are cone shaped...not really like noses but oh well
they come in liquorice or a black currant-like flavor
and reminded us of jellybeans with a liquidy center
these two carts were rival sellers
and both claimed to have the best
so we tried both...
we liked the ones on the left better
one last waffle before we leave Belgium
(if you look closely at the dough (not batter - that's the trick!) you can see sugar crystals)
the boys loved watching the metro mosey on by
and that concludes our time in Belgium
